Colours of a Day, Hopes for Tomorrow
Colours of a Day, Hopes for Tomorrow
The sky unfolds,
Hints of orange of the new day
Give way to blue to white,
sometimes brown and dreary,
sometimes black and grey
But along the way there is a red, a pink, a blue
Green, green, black, black, green, black…
Green turns orange, turns red
I stop.
And take a look around…
I see the bustle
see the ambition
People walking, running, to and fro
Oblivious of all around,
Caught up in moments of now,
some small, some big, some happy, some sad
One begs for mercy, has lost all hope
I see the grief, I see the shame
Scrambling to get out of the hole they’re in
Hopes to see yet another tomorrow
Another toiling, with relentless drive
I see the hope, I see the pride
Scrambling to get out of the hole they’re in
Hopes for a brighter tomorrow
Green, I go…
Colours fly by, people bustle on
I bustle on, rushing to another day
Rushing to overcome what comes my way
Rushing to my better tomorrow
I stop. Look around again, and think
Everyone trying to live
Trying to be better,
Trying, trying, trying
Yet onward they plod…
Do they have love,
Do they have not?
What resides in their hearts,
What resides in their minds?
What hope there once was, be it still there? Or be it gone?
I rush, I rush, not to be late
I rush, I rush, to go forth into the day.
I stop. Look to the side.
A little girl smilling,
Happy and content,
With little
Or nothing…
Held by her mother
All she knows is love
Love of a mother, giving her all
Giving her love to shield her from all
I drive on, thinking,
Reminded of what really matters
Oh to love all that comes my way
Oh to love everyone, everyday
To be a ray in a dark day
To be a smile,
To be words of hope along the way
To sparkle, to shine
That someone’s tomorrow be a brighter day.
